AMD 3: Viel South Park? Ja!

For my second viewing of South Park auf Deutsch...I have selected an episode that also appeals to my nerdy side, the Herr der Ringe episode.  In this episode, the boys are sent on a "quest" by Stans Vater, Randy, to take the Lord of the Rings movie to Butters house so he can watch it.  Was seine Eltern weiss nicht ist...they have the wrong DVD in the case!  They have actually sent the boys to Butters with a porno, which is apparently the dirtiest porno movie ever made...oh mein Gott...

The boys find various people throughout the story and they all seem to want one thing: the movie.  Butters becomes a Gollum-like character, and Token, the...token black guy...stops playing altogether because he is so astounded by what he saw.  The parents, on the other hand, are going insane and ask the kids desperately "Wo ist das Video?!".  Meanwhile, the kids think this is all just fun and games, and they continue with their Herr der Ringe spielen.  A funny moment is when they run into some other kids and ask them "Was machst sie?" and they are clearly playing with wands so they say "Wir spielen Harry Potter", to which Cartman just calls them idiots.

Finally, my favorite part of the episode is when Jimmy, who has a very thick stutter, tries to do as Gandalf does in the first Herr der Ringe movie, by saying "You shall not pass" (click for video).  Instead, he just manages to say "Sie gilt nicht..." (meaning "You shall not...") and can't manage to say the last word.  Then, some older kids who are after the porno just run him over with their bicycles.

It is very interesting doing this because I have liked South Park for a while now but I've missed man episodes.  Thus, like this I actually get to watch them both in English and German and laugh at the jokes.  It is still quite hard to understand a lot of it though...which means I still need to watch it alternating between English and Deutsch.
