Grimm Märchen

As my blog assignment I decided to read some of the Brother's Grimm fairy tales in their original form, some in English, some in German (didn't understand most of it). They are very interesting, because they are in their original form, not the ones we normally hear told. In their original form, they are actually quite frightening! The Grimm Brother's were actually very dedicated to collecting German folk tales as they had been told up to that point, and often times they were sad and rather violent, kind of like life for alot of the people who told them. Only after a while, the stories were changed to portray more modern morals and to entertain. The original cinderella is actually quite violent for a child:

In the end, the stepsisters get their eyes pecked out by birds, and both of them have to cut off either a toe or heel to fit the shoe on.
